The Salamanca colony is a Mennonite colony that has deforested 6,500 hectares of jungle near the city of Bacalar in Quintana Roo. As you can see, the Mennonite colony is much larger than the city of Bacalar itself, Colonia Salamanca is just one of hundreds of Mennonite colonies in the jungle.
